Zingsheim's studies in Material Science began at the age of seventeen with a year-long apprenticeship to the Peruvian Restorer and Conservator, Carmen Hoyle. Zingsheim's time living in Amsterdam allowed for continuous inquiry with various museum conservators in Europe and Asia. Since these early investigatory years, her travels around the world have garnered a considerable collection of raw pigment samples which she employs to create glazes and paint from waxes, resins, alkyds and oils. Zingsheim's use of ground metals is pronounced in the luminosity of the paint she grinds by hand.
'What I create I do so out of necessity. No one can ask me what my intention is a century after my own death. A piece should stand on its own free of words. My only endeavor in sharing this collection- an installation in its entirety, is to break the viewer from the world they know and to transport them into another realm of possibility.'
